I always hated questions like this during interviews.
Sorry for the long delay and lack of posts. I’ve been away for a long time, but I’m coming back to the strip soon. I’m looking to have new material up this Monday with regular updates continuing after. So, if any of my original fans are still out there, I hope you’ll stop by now and then to check the site out.
In case you haven’t heard the news, the great Tom Racine from Tall Tale Features Radio and I sat down for a chat a few weeks back. The lovely Barb Jacobs (and her barking dog) joined in the fun. It was my first interview, and I’m terrified to listen to it. But you can - right here.
On another note, I realize that I haven’t been updating the comics. I’m saddened by this, but what can I say. I got a freelance gig that’s taking up almost all of my free time, and the company I’m working for just asked if I’d accept more work. So, I guess I’m going to have to go on a hiatus for awhile, much as I hate to do it. I’ll still be popping over to blog at TTF as long as they’ll have me. And I’m not closing the book on Charly altogether. I do plan to pick it up again at some point.
So, lemee just say thanks to everyone who was a fan. This isn’t goodbye, but rather, I’ll see you again.
I hate to admit it, but I’ve been going through some very rough economic times, so much so that I have to take on a part-time job. Combined with my full-time job, I’m going to have much less time for drawing. So, I’m still planning on updating the comic, but it’s going to have to take a back seat to everything else.
The plan right now is still for 3 days a week, but that may change.
Sorry about this, folks, but the bank account needs a little lovin’.
If you haven’t been to the Tall Tale Features site in awhile, you should check it out. They’re undergoing a complete overhaul of the site, and so far, it looks fantastic. There are still a few tweaks to be done, but all-in-all it’s a great design.
I think Mike Witmer did the majority of the work, so stop by and tell him how cool it is.
I’m wiping tears of joy from my cheeks as I type this because I have found one of my Holy Grails.
Back in the 80s there was a little sitcom called Married With Children. In one episode, Kelly got a chance to star in a rock video by a band called the Guttercats. During the video, the band lip-synched to one of their songs, and I absolutely fell in love with that song. I had to have it, but I assumed that the Guttercats was created specifically for the show, and that the song never really existed (they only sang a few verses).
Life went on, I grew up (somewhat) and moved on to other things, but that song stuck in the back of my head ever since I heard it.
Many years later I found out that the band was indeed real. Awesome! I’ll just get the album. But alas, they never made any albums as far as anyone could tell. I resigned myself to the fact that I would never have that song. I’d have to settle on my memories and the occasional repeat of the MWC episode on TV.
I started searching the web a few years ago, hoping that out there in cyberspace, just maybe, a full version of that song existed. I found nothing…until today. Apparently some wonderful soul was in the possession of the Guttercats demo tape and kindly uploaded it to a popular file sharing site. The song I’d been seeking for almost twenty years finally had a name; Decoy Woman.
My friends, I don’t have much in life. I don’t have any money in my checking account; I don’t have any savings for the future, but dammit, I have a copy of Decoy Woman by the Guttercats on my iPod right now.
Can I get a whoooa Guttercats!? 03-decoy-woman
